Governors

Governors’ Information

‘Effective governance begins with effective Governors’

Governors are crucial to the running of a school. The different perspectives they can bring are invaluable to the Principal, staff and students. They will play an active and enthusiastic part in promoting the school and in ensuring its long-term success.

The school is very fortunate to have a supportive governing body. The current members bring a wide range of experience from many different areas of professional life to our school. The governing body will work closely with the Principal and the leadership team to set the strategic direction and development of the school.

Governors’ role at the Dorset Studio School is to:

  • Provide a strategic view, and help to set and maintain the broad framework within which the Principal of the School and the staff should run the school
  • Act as a critical friend and provide the Principal of the School with support and offer advice and information but also to provide some challenge
  • Report to the governing body on the school’s performance, and, in turn, the governing body is accountable to all stakeholders on the school’s overall performance

If you wish to contact a member of the Governing Body or are interested in becoming a Studio School Governor, please contact Andy Daw, Chair of Governors – Email address: andydaw.2010@googlemail.com
