Student Support

Allowing students to flourish both academically and personally are key aspects of our school. Students are enabled to do just this through a variety of support strategies.

Students all have an individual class tutor and are part of a Head of Upper or Lower School. The tutor  and Head of Upper / Lower School will maintain an overview of both the student’s academic and personal progress. As such, students get to know them well. Parents and carers can meet with the tutor in order to discuss any issues which may arise.

All students also follow a course of PSHE topics, weekly, though Personal Development lessons.  Where the need has been identified students will also receive subject specific targeted intervention. Our SENCO works closely with subject staff, middle leaders and Senior leadership in order to ensure that each student’s need are met.

Mr Chapman is the school’s Designated Senior Person with regard to safeguarding and Mr Green is the Deputy Designated person. Students are educated with respect to safety as part of their daily ‘working lives’ at the school. This is also covered additionally through PD lessons and through weekly ‘conferences’ which deal with a variety of PSHE themed issues. The school has an open door policy and students are encouraged to talk freely to staff.
